Event Details

  • When: Monday 19 October 2020 at 10:30
  • Where: Tesco’s car park, Chester Street, Mold
  • Tickets: Free – Joint event with Walkabout Flintshire

In association with Walkabout Flintshire, back by popular demand is this level guided walk around parts of Mold associated with Daniel Owen – from the place of his birth in the Maes Y Dre area to his final resting place at Mold Cemetery.

Find out more about the town’s fascinating industrial past from our knowledgeable guide, local historian Kevin Matthias. This socially distanced walk will take in a path along the River Alyn and from there, the site of the Argoed Hall Colliery disaster of 1837 can be seen. Daniel Owen’s father and two of his brothers died that day along with 17 other men as water flooded the mine. Daniel Owen’s life and those of the other families affected would never be the same again.
