Bailey Hill – then and now
Bailey Hill is a public park at the top of the High Street in Mold, which is steeped in over a thousand-year history. Eminent local historian David Rowe will bring the parks often turbulent past to life during his talk on Bailey Hill – then and now. It will take place in English online using Zoom.
Bailey Hill is the site of an early medieval castle established in the 11th century with defensive earthworks including a steep sided ‘motte’ and inner and outer baileys. Its strategic importance has waxed and waned over the centuries but it has always been treasured by the people of Mold.
The park is now going through a transformation thanks to Heritage Lottery Funding, other grants and the commitment and financial support of the local community. Jo Lane, Bailey Hill project officer will be joining us online to bring us right up to date with the big changes to improve the park and to answer your questions.
David will put Bailey Hill into in its historical and social context – not to be missed!
