Daniel Owen is often described as the father of the Welsh novel whose influence is felt in literature to this day over a hundred years later. What has not always had such prominence is his contribution to the social and public life of his hometown. From the debating chamber of a tailor’s workroom where he learned his trade as a young man, to his election as the first chairman of Mold Urban District Council, John Atkinson will trace his commitment to his town and fellow townspeople.
